Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing PSG full-back Gregory van der Wiel this summer according to CalcioMercato.

This source claims that Arsene Wenger has earmarked a move for the talented Dutch international as a potential replacement for Gunners star Bacary Sagna, who appears to be on his way out at the North London club.

One would imagine it would be tough to lure Van der Wiel from the Parc des Princes so soon after he arrived at the Ligue 1 big spenders, especially with Carlo Ancelotti’s side doing so well, being top of the domestic table and into the Champions League quarter-finals.

Van der Wiel has been a relative regular in the PSG starting line-up since his summer move from Ajax, making 15 starts in all competitions, but has seen Christophe Jallet challenge him for the right-back berth.

A move to Arsenal would perhaps be more plausible if the Gunners were to secure a Champions League berth for next term though one wonders if the Premier League side could meet the 25 year old’s current PSG salary.

Should Sagna leave Arsenal in the summer Wenger could opt instead to offer the right-back spot to youngster Carl Jenkinson on a permanent basis, with the England man being very impressive when called upon including most recently in last night’s win over Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
