Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has expressed his fury with Belgium boss Marc Wilmots according to BBC Sport.

The Italian manager is angry that City captain Vincent Kompany appeared for his national team during their tie with Macedonia on Tuesday.

Kompany has been sitting on the sidelines since January as he nurses a calf injury.

Mancini is furious that Kompany has been out of action for 60 days for his club yet is still required to make an appearance for his national side.

Mancini reminded Wilmots that it was City who paid the City’s star’s salary and insisted it was not right for national team managers to take risks with the fitness of their players.

The Italian boss stated that he is unaware of Kompany’s injury status following the game and is concerned that the match may have reduced Kompany’s prospects of a return to the team before the end of the season.

Kompany has been sorely missed in the City backline. The centre-back played a key role in the side that went on to lift the Premier League title last season but has been forced to sit and watch as the club have surrendered a 15 point lead to their city rivals Manchester United at the top of the Premier League table.
