Arsenal are preparing to bring back Dennis Bergkamp to the club according to Tutto Mercato Web.

The former Arsenal striker has gone into a coaching role since hanging up his boots with the Gunners.

Bergkamp is currently working for Ajax where is in charge of the team’s youth division.

Arsenal youth coach Liam Brady is due to retire at the end of next year and the Gunners have reportedly lined up Bergkamp as Brady’s replacement.

That has prompted speculation that the club are preparing Bergkamp as the eventual successor to current boss Arsene Wenger.

The French boss’ future at the club has come under increased speculation in the last few seasons.

By the end of the current campaign the club will have failed to have won any silverware for the last eight seasons.

That has sparked murmurs of discontent amongst certain sections of the Arsenal support who are disappointed with the club’s failure to keep pace with the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City.

The club are currently locked in a battle for a top four finish and are facing the prospect of missing out on Champions League qualification for the first time under Wenger’s reign at the club.

Wenger is aware of the unhappiness in the Arsenal crowd and reports in recent months have suggested he is beginning to feel he has taken the club as far as he can.
