Germany midfielder enjoying life with Bundesliga giants.
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has dismissed speculation linking him with a move away from the club. according to Goal.com.
The Germany star has been highly impressive for the German giants this season and has played an integral role in the Dortmund side that has reached the semi finals of this season’s Champions League.
Those performances have not gone unnoticed with a number of top European sides thought to be monitoring the player’s availability.
Reports in recent weeks have strongly linked Spanish giants Real Madrid with a move for Gundogan.
The future of Madrid’s Xabi Alonso is looking increasingly uncertain with the Spanish midfielder currently refusing to put pen to paper on a new deal. It is thought that Madrid have identified Gundogan as the perfect replacement for Alonso should he decide to leave the club.
But Gundogan has moved to pour cold water on speculation he could leave the club this summer. The Germany international has revealed that he has no intention of leaving Dortmund and is keen to secure an extension to his current contract with the club.
The 22 year old insisted he is completely focused on life in Dortmund and was paying no attention to rumours linking him with a move elsewhere.
‘I am 100 per cent sure that I will still be with Dortmund next season,’ said Gundogan.
‘Rumours do not really affect me. I still have two more years on my contract with Dortmund and I know what I have at this incredible club.
‘It is very likely that I will sign a new contract, although it obviously depends on how talks go.’
