Arsenal have been handed fresh hope in their pursuit of Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic, according to The Express.

The Montenegrin international has been recognised as Arsenal’s number one target since January and they continue to be linked with a £24 million move for him this summer.

Both Juvetus and Roma have expressed an interest in keeping him in Serie A but the player had claimed that he has been a long time admirer of Arsene Wenger and they style of football he implements on the squad.

However, Jovetic has largely remained quiet on his future by concentrating on helping Fiorentina to qualify for next season’s Champions League, but the club’s former midfielder Daniele Amerini has weighed in by claiming that Jovetic will be on his way out at the end of the season.

“He still has a contract with Fiorentina, but honestly I think it will go away,” Amerini told Italian website Tutto Mercato.

“I do not think [he is worth that much]. Undoubtedly Jovetic is an important player, but for what he has shown in recent years I do not think is worth that kind of money.”

Jovetic has scored 12 goals this season as Fiorentina currently sit in fourth place, two points behind Milan in third with just one game remaining.
