Fulham are preparing a summer bid for Aston Villa’s Darren Bent according to The Daily Star.

The England striker has found himself increasingly marginalised at Villa Park this season due to highly impressive breakthrough season enjoyed by Christian Benteke.

Bent has found himself having to be content with a place on the bench as Benteke’s 19 Premier League goals have meant Bent’s first team chances have been few and far between.

The former Sunderland and Spurs striker admitted last week that he has no intention of spending another season on the bench and would be looking to hold talks with Villa officials in the coming weeks.

That has sparked the interest of Fulham who are keen to add some firepower to their squad over the summer.

The Cottagers are thought to be monitoring the availability of Bent but would be looking to pay significantly less than the £12 million Villa are currently demanding.

Should Bent arrive at Craven Cottage, that raises the prospect of a mouth watering partnership with former Manchester United and Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov.

Turkish side Galatasaray are also thought to be interested in Bent and, unlike Fulham, are happy to match Bent’s £65,000 a week wages.
