Premier League side make approach to Atletico Madrid for centre-back.
Manchester City are ready to shift their focus towards Atletico Madrid centre-back Martin Demichelis according to The Times.
The Argentine only arrived in the Spanish capital this summer having joined on a free transfer from Malaga.
But it appears the defender could be set to move yet again after his former manager Manuel Pellegrini expressed an interest in bringing him to the Premier League.
Demichelis is happy to complete a second move this summer if it helps to raise funds for his club.
Pellegrini is keen to bring in a new centre-back before the start of the new Premier League season.
His search has become all the more urgent after he lost young Matija Nastasic to an ankle injury that will see him miss the first month of the new campaign.
The club are already somewhat short of options at the back after they allowed Ivorian centre-back Kolo Toure to join Liverpool on a free transfer.
England international Joleon Lescott is likely to have more involvement in the first time this season but it is understood that Pellegrini is still keen on bringing in defensive reinforcements.
City have been linked with a move to Pepe but it appears that broke down after Madrid refused to sell the Portuguese defender.
