Blackburn Rovers managing director Derek Shaw is confident that the club can hold on to star striker Jordan Rhodes, with no bids submitted for the 23-year-old so far this summer, according to Sky Sports.

The Scottish international is widely regarded as one of the best players currently playing outside of the Premier League, and has been linked several times with moves to the likes of Arsenal and Newcastle since making his breakthrough a couple of years ago with Huddersfield Town.

Rhodes was in sensational form for the League One side in the 2011/12 season, scoring 40 goals in 45 appearances, and he has done well in the Championship with Blackburn as well since his £8million move, finding the back of the net 28 times last year.

The club may have been expecting a fight to keep their star player, but are now confident that he will not be moving anywhere this summer.

Asked about Rhodes’ future at the club, Shaw said: “We’ve had no contact from any club, and that’s how we would like it to stay.

“There have been no bids for him. We do not want to sell him.”

If Rhodes continues this kind of form in front of goal, it surely won’t be long before a Premier League club takes a chance on him.
