Big-spending Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain are attempting to hijack Arsenal’s planned £46 million move for Real Madrid midfield player Mesut Ozil, according to reports in the Guardian.

The highly rated Germany international has been the subject of frenzied speculation in the last 24 hours linking the 24-year-old with a stunning big-money move to the Gunners, after being told by los Blancos that he now no longer has a future at the Santiago Bernabeu.

And it had been reported across many media outlets in the UK that Ozil was on the verge of joining the north London club in what would have been easily their biggest-ever transfer, with some papers even going as far as claiming that the playmaker had already undergone a medical in Munich ahead of his impending move to the Emirates.

However, Arsenal’s hopes of being able to conclude a deal for Ozil now appear to be in danger after mega-rich Ligue 1 champions PSG lodged a superior offer for the coveted German in an effort to outmanoeuvre the Premier League giants on transfer deadline day, meaning that Ozil will now be faced with a choice between the French and English capitals as the clock slowly ticks down to the closing of the summer window at midnight on Monday.
