Barcelona bit-party player is apparently ‘open’ to a move back to Arsenal according to the Daily Star.

The 26 year old Cameroon international is apparently frustrated with the lack of first team opportunities at the Nou Camp with the likes of Sergio Busquets and Javier Mascherano ahead of the former Gunners star in Gerardo Martino’s first team set-up.

Man United are also said to be keen on Song and their need in that department may be more urgent than Arsene Wenger’s given that the Arsenal manager brought in Mathieu Flamini to add some much needed steel to his midfield, a move that has already shown signs of being something of a masterstroke.

Song left Arsenal for Barcelona in the summer of 2012 but managed to rack up just 17 La Liga starts and this term hasn’t proved any more successful in terms of first team action with the rangy midfielder starting three of the club’s opening eight domestic fixtures and perhaps more crucially being completely overlooked in terms of Champions League action.

Alex Song would have expected to find it tough making an impact at Barcelona in the face of incredibly strong competition for spots and come January may well be in a better position to know just what kind of future he can expect at the Catalan giants.
