The agent of Lyon midfielder Maxime Gonalons has admitted that a January move to Italian side Napoli may well be on the cards, according to Football-Italia.net.

The French international was linked with a move both to Napoli and Arsenal over the summer but Lyon put a block on any possible switch before the player himself declared that he was only interested in playing for Les Gones.

However, his representative has now opened the door to negotiations taking place during the January transfer window and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will now have to act fast if he still holds any hope of bringing him to the Emirates.

“I met with [Napoli sporting director Ricardo] Bigon twice over the summer,” Frederic Guerra told Radio Crc.

“But since then I have had no news about it. I do not know though.

“Maybe Napoli are still looking for a player with his characteristics in January. A transfer can be done, but Napoli have to accept the demands of Lyon and the player.”

The 24-year-old made his breakthrough into the Lyon side back in 2009 and has since gone on to make 148 appearances for the former Ligue 1 champions, scoring eight goals in the process. He has recently began to establish himself within the French national side too, collecting six caps since his debut in 2011.
