Mega-rich Premier League outfit Manchester City have beaten both top-flight rivals Chelsea and Liverpool in the race to land coveted young Feyenoord star Rodney Kongolo, according to reports in the Sunday Mirror.

The highly rated midfield player, who has been dubbed the ‘next Patrick Vieira’ back home in the Netherlands, is set to move to Eastlands imminently after the big-spending north-west outfit managed to agree a compensation package with the Eredivisie giants for the in-demand Kongolo.

And the arrival of Kongolo at City carries on a recent trend by the club of hovering up all the best young talent from across the Continent, as the Blues start to shortly gear up for the introduction of Uefa’s Financial Fair Play regulations.

Kongolo, 15, has been likened to the former Arsenal and France international captain due to his powerful all-action displays in the centre of the park for Feyenoord, and now the athletic box-to-box midfielder – whose older brother actually features in the Dutch club’s first team at present – will soon get the chance to work with the man himself as Vieira is currently City’s Football Development Executive, and so will be responsible for helping to see the player progress into the club’s first team at some point in the future.
