Newcastle and West Ham have been alerted to the possible availability of Manchester United winger Ashley Young on loan this January, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 28-year-old has been a highly disappointing signing for United since he joined the club from Aston Villa in 2011, failing to live up to the fine form he showed during his time at Villa Park.

Recently criticised by his manager David Moyes for diving, it appears the Red Devils boss has lost patience with Young, and feels he could benefit from a spell away from the club for the rest of the season.

Newcastle are keen to add a winger to their books this January, and have also been linked with a loan move for another United player, Wilfried Zaha, as the youngster fails to break into the first-team picture at Old Trafford.

With the Magpies also facing the possible exit from the club of Hatem Ben Arfa, they have also eyed up a move for in-demand Blackpool starlet Tom Ince for when the transfer window re-opens.

West Ham are also keen on Young, who could link up with his former Aston Villa team-mate Stewart Downing at Upton Park.
