Roberto Mancini could be set to make a raid on his old club Manchester City with a surprise bid to bring Gareth Barry to Galatasaray, according to Inside Futbol.

The 32-year-old was a key player for Mancini during his time at Manchester City, though he has found himself sent out on loan to Everton this season under new manager Manuel Pellegrini, leaving his days at the Etihad Stadium looking like being at an end.

Although Mancini is known to have had something of a frosty relationship with several of his players during his time in charge of the Sky Blues, the Italian has also been linked with a move to bring Aleksandar Kolarov with him to Turkey.

Mancini joined Galatasaray earlier this month in his first job since being sacked by City in May, and could be set to continue the Turkish giants’ recent habit of bringing big-name players to the club, as the likes of Antonio Valencia and Demba Ba could also join following last January’s high-profile purhcases of Didier Drogba and Wesley Sneijder.

Barry has performed well so far for Everton this season, and may have preference for a permanent move to Goodison Park in order to remain in the Premier League, though Mancini will hope to make the former Aston Villa man one of very few English players playing abroad.
