Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger is understood to be contemplating giving club-record signing Mesut Ozil a rest when the north London club take on struggling Norwich City at the Emirates in the Premier League on Saturday, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The coveted Germany international featured for his country in their final Fifa World Cup qualifier against Sweden in Solna on Tuesday night.

However, Ozil caused concern amongst Gunners fans when he was forced to leave the action late on in the visitors’ 5-3 win after taking a knock to his knee.

But despite confirming on Thursday that the 25-year-old’s injury was not that serious, Wenger is said to still be pondering resting Ozil for the Premier League contest with the Canaries on Saturday afternoon.

Arsenal have a tough-looking and key Uefa Champions League tie to play against last season’s beaten finalists Borussia Dortmund away from home on Tuesday night which the Frenchman may decide to keep his star man fresh for.

Ozil has made a sensational start to his career in the capital since joining Arsenal from Spanish giants Real Madrid on transfer deadline day, with the playmaker having already scored once for his new team in his first five matches.
