Diego Maradona has labelled Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero a “wimp” following the recent breakup of his marriage to the former Argentina international captain’s daughter Giannina, according to reports in the Daily Mail.
The duo split up earlier this year, with Giannina moving back to Buenos Aires with the pair’s only child, Benjamin.
However, Maradona has now hit out at the father of his grandson, telling an Argentinian radio station in one of his now typically emotionally charged rants: “He’s a wimp, who I don’t even want to name.
“In my daughter’s next meeting with a lawyer, I want to be by her side. We’ll see who can talk.
“The next time I want to be there to see if he [Aguero] says anything.”
Giannina, who is Maradona’s youngest daughter, gave birth to Benjamin in Madrid in February 2009, with the ex-Barcelona and Napoli star there in the Spanish capital for the birth of what was his first grandchild.
However, after alleged rumours of an affair by Aguero, Giannina decided to bring an end to their four-year marriage in January, with Maradona’s daughter then initially moving back to live in their mansion in Madrid.
Meanwhile Argentina international front man Aguero is currently enjoying a brilliant start to the new campaign for his mega-rich Premier League club, with the 25-year-old having found the back of the net on 10 occasions in total in just 11 fixtures in all competitions to date for the north-west giants, including seven strikes in just his eight top-flight contests.
