Boss David Moyes missed out on a host of summer target including the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Sami Khedira, Daniele De Rossi and Ander Herrera but will look to push on with efforts to sign German international Reus, who would appear to have little reason to consider a move away from his current Bundesliga club.

The former Borussia Monchengladbach man had an outstanding first season at the Westfalenstadion, scoring 19 goals in all competitions and help Jurgen Klopp’s side to secure runners-up finishes in both the Bundesliga and Champions League.

The talented Dortmund man, who can play either out wide or in an attacking midfield role behind the Klopp’s attack, has scored 11 goals this season but may be upset to see his side fall some seven points off pace-setters Bayern Munich and perhaps if his side fail to secure a spot in the last 16 of the Champions League there is a chance he could be swayed into leaving in January, though that does seem unlikely.

Moyes may well be keen to improve his creative midfield options as well as looking to bring in more effective wide-attacking additions given the average form displayed by the likes of Luis Antonio Valencia, Nani, Ashley Young and Shinji Kagawa.
