The Emirates Stadium side could well do with strengthening their attack and whilst Arsene Wenger has been linked with interest in big money target FC Porto forward Jackson Martinez a move for 22 year old Italian international Destro is perhaps more in keeping with the Gunners youthful transfer policy.

Destro has been used sparingly by new Stadio Olimpico boss Rudi Garia, making just two Serie A starts, however the forward has nonetheless been a prolific force betting three goals and providing an assist in just 128 minutes of top tier action.

Last term the former Siena man was used as something of a super sub, scoring six goals despite making just 11 Serie A starts and a move to Arsenal may tempt the Giallorossi bit-part player, especially if he feels he isn’t a prominent part of Garcia’s plans.

Wenger has seen Olivier Giroud struggle for form in recent weeks, as well as illness and with Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott out injured there is certainly a need to consider a striker signing in January though perhaps a loan move for Destro may be more likely than a permanent deal this month.
