Officials from the North London club will hold more talks with Schalke as they continue to pursue young midfielder Julian Draxler, with the Gunners keen to sew up a move before the transfer deadline on Friday night.

Arsenal boss Wenger is willing to offer between £25-£30m for the 20 year old but Schalke are demanding that the Premier League side meet Draxler’s £37.2m release clause.

Schalke are already chasing a replacement for Draxler in the form of Tottenham man Lewis Holtby, who could be interested in a return to his former employers.

Preliminary discussions have already taken place between Schalke and Arsenal, with Wenger being assured that Draxler is keen to follow fellow compatriots Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal’s representatives will also meet up with Eintracht Frankfurt as they pursue young right-back Sebastian Jung, who Arsene Wenger sees as the man to replace likely exit bound Frenchman Bacary Sagna.

Jung is valued at £7m and has been a consistent performer over the past 18 months and is on the fringes of a first senior German cap.

Sagna has yet to agree terms on a new Arsenal contract with his current deal coming to an end in the summer and the experienced defender has been linked with interest from a number of clubs including PSG, Monaco and Inter.
