Rosicky’s current deal expires at the end of this season but boss Arsene Wenger has hinted he wants the 33-year-old to remain at the club beyond the summer.

The Czech Republic international has faced increased competition for places since the £42m summer signing of Mesut Ozil and the emergence of teenager Serge Gnabry, but has still made 18 appearances in the Premier League – ten of which have come from the start.

It is Arsenal club policy to offer players over 30 a 12-month extension but Rosicky said he was looking forward to remaining in North London for ‘another few years’.

‘Arsene Wenger wants me to stay, he wants our co-operation to continue. I want to stay.’ Rosicky is quoted as saying by The Metro.

‘Hopefully all is sorted out in the next few days. It would be great to play on at Arsenal for another few years.’

Arsenal’s 1-0 loss at Stoke City on Saturday left the Gunners trailing leaders Chelsea by four points but Rosicky insisted the club can still win the title.

‘It was a huge loss of points. On the other hand, there are still ten games left.

‘In the season in which I won the title with Dortmund, we lost to Kaiserslautern a few rounds before the end and in the dressing room we were talking, ”Well, this is over now.”

‘Suddenly, we won all the remaining games and had the title in our hands.’
