The Italian outfit have recently been taken over by Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir, with the billionaire said to be determined to return the club to its former glory days.

And in order to do so, Thohir is said to be happy to finance a massive spending spree this summer so as to reshape the club’s entire first-team squad at San Siro.

Already Inter have agreed a deal to sign Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic on a Bosman free transfer next season, while they are also believed to be interested in luring the likes of Vidic’s team-mates at Old Trafford Patrice Evra and Javier Hernandez to Serie A.

However, it is up front that Inter are said to be most desperate to strengthen, and with the club having decided against making a move for misfiring Chelsea striker Fernando Torres this summer, they will instead now switch their focus towards Dzeko, with City seeking just £12m for the Bosnian.
