Arsenal have suffered yet another huge injury blow with the news that key midfielder Aaron Ramsey is not now likely to be fit in time to take part in Sunday afternoon’s north London derby with arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane after failing to recover from injury in time, according to reports in the Guardian.

The Wales international suffered a thigh injury during the north London club’s 3-1 over West Ham United at Upton Park back on Boxing day, with the initial prognosis suggesting that the player would be out of action  for as long as six weeks.

However, despite the 23-year-old having finally returned to training with the rest of the Gunners first-team squad at the start of last week, when it was then expected that Ramsey would be fit in time to feature at Tottenham this weekend, it has now been decided by the club’s medical staff not to risk the Welshman.

But there was at least some good news on the injury front though for beleaguered Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger ahead of the trip to Spurs after it was revealed that both Spain left-back Nacho Monreal and recent new loan signing Kim Kallstrom were set to feature at the Lane.
