Man United boss David Moyes is ready to offload a dozen members of his first team squad as he seeks to conduct a major overhaul of his Old Trafford squad.

CaughtOffside understands that the former Everton manager will be backed by the club’s owners with the Glazers ready to hand Moyes a massive £200m transfer war-chest.

Moyes will look to make room for a host of additions by trimming his expansive squad, which in turn will reduce the club’s wage bill burden as they look to cut overall costs to help balance the books knowing that the likely lack of Champions League action will cost the club a large sum.

Rio Ferdinand

The veteran centre-back will not be offered a contract extension when his current deal comes to a close this summer with the 35 year old failing to impress David Moyes.

The long serving player may well opt to retire from the game and could be retained by the Old Trafford side in a coaching role. Moyes will however look to persuade left-back Patrice Evra to sign a new one year contract as his current deal also nears it’s completion.

Moyes had hoped to bring in Leighton Baines to fill the left-back role but has failed in numerous bids for the Everton man and looks likely to lose out to Chelsea in pursuit of Southampton teenager Luke Shaw.

Rafael

The Brazilian right-back has looked a liability this term and has seen Chris Smalling identified as David Moyes’s preferred option in the role.

Moyes is ready to listen to offers for the 23 year old with a number of Serie A sides said to be monitoring the attack minded full-back.

Rafael was fortunate to not see red during Man United’s 3-0 defeat to Liverpool with referee Mark Clattenburg surprisingly not electing to show the defender a second yellow card for his handball offence that led to Steven Gerrard’s first penalty kick.

Anders Lindegaard

The 29 year old Danish keeper will look to leave Old Trafford this summer having seen David de Gea make the Man United starting spot his own.

Lindegaard has only been used in cup action this term and his last Premier League appearance came back in May 2013 when he conceded five at West Brom.

Javier Hernandez

25 year old marksman has seen his first team chances limited under David Moyes with the Scottish boss now ready to cash-in on the forward.

Chicharito is still a fan favourite and a player who has a very healthy strike-rate but is now behind Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck in the club’s pecking order and the lack of first team action has even begun to affect his standing in the Mexican national team set-up.

Tottenham are said to be interested in Hernandez though a number of La Liga sides are also tracking the bit-part player.

Nani

Portuguese winger has barely had a look-in under David Moyes, this despite the fact that no wide-attacking option has particularly impressed this season, and the 27 year old will be sold in the summer.

Moyes hopes to garner as much as £15m from the sale of the wide-attacker who has been treading water in recent seasons.

The former Sporting Lisbon man only signed a new long term contract last September but it is thought that this was chiefly so as to maximise his value in the transfer market as opposed to a sign of his standing in the Man United ranks.

Tom Cleverley

David Moyes has backed the England man in recent weeks but is privately ready to sell the ineffective midfielder.

The 24 year old has started just three Premier League fixtures in 2014 and perhaps tellingly Man United failed to win any of those fixtures.

Moyes has actively pursued a number of central midfielders in recent months, chief among his targets being Bayern Munich star Toni Kroos, and the Man United manager is ready to sell Cleverley for the right price.

Alexander Buttner

Dutchman was brought in to keep Patrice Evra on his toes but has failed to effectively challenge the French veteran for the left-back berth.

When called upon the former Vitesse Arnhem man has looked assured and able but Moyes is ready to sell the 25 year old having only handed the defender a single Premier League start this season.

Federico Macheda

The young striker has spent much of the past four seasons out on loan and has impressed at Birmingham City this term and will be allowed to leave for a nominal fee this summer.

Moyes will hope that the Championship side make an offer for the 22 year old Italian, who has netted five goals in eight matches for the St Andrews’ outfit.

There is also said to be interest from a number of Serie A sides.

Bebe

Widely considered one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s worst signings the young attacker has been displaying a good level of form whilst out on loan at Pacos de Ferreira.

Moyes will sanction a sale of the 23 year old but knows Man United are unlikely to receive a fee anywhere near the £7.4m the club paid for Bebe back in 2010.

Wilfried Zaha

The England man has been farmed out on loan at Cardiff City and is a player David Moyes doesn’t appear to rate highly and is set to be another talent who’s imminent sale will recoup far less than the fee paid for his services.

Zaha barely featured at Man United, making just two Premier League substitute appearances, before he was sent to Wales on a loan deal that is being used as a shop window for the former Crystal Palace man.

The arrival of Juan Mata, the emergence of Adnan Januzaj and the good form shown by Danny Welbeck will leave Moyes ready to cash-in on the 21 year old.

Anderson

Brazilian midfielder has been sent to Fiorentina for the remainder of the current campaign having made just two Premier League starts this term.

The 25 year old battler has already made something of an impact in Italy and Moyes is ready to sell the player outright this summer though is likely to make less than £10m from any potential sale.

Ashley Young

David Moyes is unhappy with the lack of consistency shown by the former Aston Villa man and is ready to sell the England man, who’s career is perhaps stagnating at Old Trafford.

Young has looked increasingly ineffective and his record of three goals in 46 appearances over the past two campaigns has made his position at the club next to untenable.

His former Villa Park employers are said to be monitoring the 28 year old and Tottenham are also said to be tempted by a possible move for the wide-man.
