The former Everton boss was given his marching orders following a face-to-face meeting with the club’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward at United’s training ground at Carrington at 7.40am on Tuesday.

Moyes was chosen to take over from previous Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson at the end of last season, with the Scot handed a six-year deal worth a staggering £5m a season.

However, just ten months into his reign at the Theatre of Dreams, Moyes has been dismissed, although it is now starting to emerge just what a key role some of the Premier League champions’ players played in the Glaswegian’s exit from the club.

In fact, it is understood that the new United boss tried to use his predecessor’s now legendary hairdryer treatment several times on his players to try and get some sort of positive reaction from them, but to no avail, resulting in Moyes accusing them of trying to get him the sack by “playing like girls”.
