The experienced Dutch manager will be handed a transfer war-chest in excess of £100m and he may well need the entire sum to land the three players in question.

His number target is Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels who is seen as an ideal replacement for Inter Milan bound Nemanja Vidic.

The former Bayern Munich man may be ready to consider a Westfalenstadion exit with Jurgen Klopp’s side some way off the Bundesliga pace.

Man United also continue to chase Allianz Arena midfielder Toni Kroos who now has just over a year to run on his current Bayern Munich contract.

In the final third the Premier League side are chasing impressive Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus, who could be the perfect player to link midfield and attack.

The sprightly 24 year old is always a danger going forward, providing bucket-loads of invention and with a keen eye for goal and another player who may feel the time is right to quit Dortmund.

Reus has netted 23 goals and provided 16 assists in 41 appearances in all competitions this term.
