The Gunners are almost certain to lose Sagna at the end of the season as he nears a move to Manchester City after failing to agree an extension on his current deal.

Losing the experienced Frenchman will come as a huge blow to the club, but Arsene Wenger is already planning for life without him by targeting a move for the Porto right-back Danilo.

Wenger has already taken a look at both Dani Carvajal of Real Madrid and Toulouse’s Serge Aurier, but the young Brazilian is showing plenty of promise with his performances in the Portuguese top flight this season and has attracted interest from Real Madrid in the process.

Arsenal will now press ahead with his signing as filling the vacant right-back slot will be one of their top summer priorities alongside bagging a new striker.
