The coveted France international spent one season at Old Trafford in 2011-12 under previous United head coach Sir Alex Ferguson, during which time the 21-year-old made a total of just seven appearances in all competitions for the Premier League side, three of which came in the top flight, during which time Pogba failed to find the back of the net.

And then when the 21-year-0ld’s contract at the Theatre of Dreams eventually ran out at the end of the 2011-12 campaign and it came to the player having to decide where his future laid, Pogba opted to quit United and instead join the Old Lady of Italian Football on a lucrative Bosman-style free transfer.

However, explaining the reasons behind making that tough call Pogba has now revealed that he was even made to train alone at Carrington by Ferguson.

“They left me out because they said I wanted to leave. That is disrespect,” Pogba told BBC World Football Focus. “Maybe they didn’t think if they were making a mistake.

“I don’t think he showed us any respect at all.

“Manchester United is a big club but you have to think about yourself.

“You have to play. The coach told me there would be space to play, but I wasn’t playing.

“I was training alone for one week. They told me to go in the gym. I said ‘I am not an athlete, I am a footballer.'”
