Arsenal are coming dangerously close to losing out on the signature of FC Basel defender Fabian Schar this summer as he edges towards a move to Italian giants Lazio, according to talkSPORT.

The Swiss international has become one of the hottest properties in Europe this season as his form both domestically and in the Champions League has seen his stock rise considerably.
Having only been at the club since joining from FC Wil in 2012, the 22-year-old has enjoyed a metric rise to the top of his game and now looks set to depart Basel at the end of the current campaign.
He was part of the side that defeated Chelsea twice in the Champions League earlier this season, and has been followed for months by Manchester United and Arsenal, as well as being linked with Inter Milan and Barcelona.
However, news of the club’s decision to cash in on him so quickly has alerted Lazio, who are prepared to stump up £7m on the spot in order to push a deal through quickly.
