Check in to Tottenham Hotspur vs Aston Villa

Atletico Madrid are ready to rescue Tottenham flop Roberto Soldado with Diego Simeone considering a move for the White Hart Lane man as a replacement for likely exit bound striker Diego Costa according to Goal.com.

Tottenham paid Valencia £26m for 28 year old Spanish international Soldado who has gone on to score just six goals in 28 Premier League appearances, of which four were from the spot, and a move back to La Liga may well interest the Spurs man.

One imagines that chairman Daniel Levy will accept a good offer but will hope to recoup the lion’s share of the fee they forked out for Soldado.

Prior to his move to north London Soldado was a prolific goal-scorer, netting 114 goals in 207 appearances in his spells at Getafe and the Mestalla.

Simeone may well feel that Soldado can ably fill the void that will be left by the departure of Costa, who looks set to join Chelsea after an exceptional season during which he has netted 36 goals and formed an excellent understanding with strike partner David Villa.
