Incoming Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal may well be looking to bring a host of new additions to help boost an under-performing squad that failed to secure a Champions League berth and in doing so cost David Moyes his job.

One understands that the Dutch national team coach would want to bring in new talents but one wonders if he need to bring in both Lavezzi and Pastore, not least as Juan Mata is beginning to show his class and the emergence of Adnan Januzaj may well resolve, to an extent, the lack of effective wide attackers in the Man United squad.

Arguably neither Lavezzi or Pastore have proven themselves at PSG, having both been superb during their Serie A stints at Palermo and Napoli respectively.

One can see why PSG would be reticent about spending vast sums on new signings without looking to first balance the books with player sales, not least with the threat of a UEFA punishment for those sides who do not adhere to their FFP (Financial Fair Play) guidelines and as such neither player would cost less than £20m.
