Recently-sacked Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood could be set to replace his White Hart Lane successor Mauricio Pochettino at Southampton, according to the Daily Express.

The 45-year-old was sacked by Spurs at the end of a short-lived spell in charge of the team in the 2013/14 season, with the north London club luring the impressive Pochettino away from the St Mary’s Stadium as his replacement.

Sherwood could now be set to make a quick return to Premier League management as Southampton themselves remain without a manager following the exit of Pochettino, though West Bromwich Albion are also reportedly looking at the former England midfielder as they eye a successor for Pepe Mel.

Despite being on the receiving end of much criticism during his time in charge of Tottenham, Sherwood boasts the best win percentage of any manager at White Hart Lane during the Premier League era, and looks to have a good future in top flight management.

Southampton are still considering a number of other options to take charge of the team next season, with Fulham’s Felix Magath believed to be in the frame, as well as Dutchman Ronald Koeman, who recently left Eredivisie side Feyenoord.
