Spanish striker wants La Liga return.

Check in to Australia vs Spain

Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo is reportedly keen to be granted a £20m move back to La Liga this summer with Atletico Madrid, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 28-year-old, who has also played for Real Madrid in his days as a youngster, only joined City from Sevilla last summer, and had a decent first season at the Etihad Stadium, even if his form tailed off somewhat in the latter part of the campaign.

Negredo managed 23 goals in 48 appearances for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, and Atletico have seemingly identified him as a possible replacement for the departing Diego Costa, who is close to sealing a £32m switch to Chelsea.

Having won the Premier League title in his first season in England, Negredo is seemingly now looking for a move to the Spanish champions, as he is keen to play in the city of his birth.

The Spaniard was one of the most lethal strikers in La Liga during his time with Sevilla, scoring 85 goals in his four seasons with the club before signing for City for a reported fee of around £16.4m.

The Sky Blues would supposedly be keen to bring in around £20m for the forward now, and it remains to be seen how much Atletico will be willing to fork out for him.
