White Hart Lane side chase St Mary’s defensive rock.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is in talks to conduct a St Mary’s raid for defender Dejan Lovren according to the Daily Star.
The Argentine is ready to fork out £18m for the tough tackling Southampton centre-back who would go some way to helping to solidify his leaky White Hart Lane defence.
Newly appointed Saints boss Ronald Koeman faces a fight to keep hold of his top talents and having already seen Luke Shaw join Man United and Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana move to Liverpool one wonders if the Dutchman will be able to prevent Croatian Lovren joining his former manager at Spurs.

Lovren cost Southampton £8.5m last summer and he proved a very able performer in his debut Premier League campaign but may well feel the time is right to leave the south-coast side.
Tottenham were often found wanted in the defensive department last term, especially when coming face to face with the Premier League’s top sides, and Lovren is certainly a better option than the likes of Micheal Dawson and Younes Kaboul and could well work as an excellent partner for Belgian Jan Vertonghen who certainly prefers playing in a central role to his occasional forays at left-back.
