The Reds have recently revived their interest in the youngster after failing to come to an agreement with the Spanish club earlier in the summer, though it now appears that the move could be back on as Liverpool offer up striker Iago Aspas as a makeweight in the deal.

Moreno, 22, featured heavily last season as Sevilla claimed the Europa League crown and coach Unai Emery is desperate to work with him again next season – but admits he is bracing himself for the youngster’s departure.

“I see him as a Sevillista, and hopefully he will stay at Sevilla. We count on him, I hope to improve Alberto, he took a major leap and we have to work with him to help him to continue to improve,” he said.

“If something comes up during the transfer market we are prepared for any eventuality.”

However, he was quick to praise Iago Aspas as he prepares to inherit the former Celta Vigo man.

“He is a player that exploded at Celta and went to England. But there he has not been involved. He fits the profile of what we need but the negotiation with Liverpool is not easy. He’s a player that, if you could sign him, would be a good addition.”
