Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy is on the verge of signing for Liverpool, according to The Metro.

The 27-year-old France international, who has an £8m release clause in his current contract, has been the subject of transfer talk all summer.

Arsenal were among the frontrunners for Remy’s signature, but his proposed move to the Gunners fell through over wage demands.

Liverpool have had no such problems agreeing personal terms with the player who spent last season on loan at Newcastle United.

Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that Remy will sign a five-year contract at Anfield.

The Metro report that Remy will earn £80,000 a week on Merseyside.

Liverpool are willing to pay QPR’s full £8m asking price, although they are hopeful of negotiating it down slightly.

Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on Remy, but the former Marseille man has his heart set on playing Champions League football this season.

Since moving to England in January 2013, Remy has scored six goals in 14 Premier League games for QPR and hit the net 14 times in 26 top-flight matches for Newcastle.

He has been capped 24 times at senior international level, bagging five goals.
