Manchester United and Real Madrid now look the favourites to sign Juventus star Paul Pogba this summer after Paris Saint-Germain pulled out of the running, according to Lefigaro.

The 21-year-old midfielder is attracting plenty of interest this summer after establishing himself as one of the best young players in the world in recent years, despite previously failing to make the grade in a first spell at Old Trafford.

PSG had looked among the frontrunners to bring him in this summer due to their big-spending in recent seasons, but Uefa’s Financial Fair Play restrictions now look to have halted the French champions’ efforts to compete for his signature.

Laurent Blanc’s side have already splashed out £50m to sign Brazilian defender David Luiz from Chelsea this summer, and will need to sell before they can spend more money, leaving them in a difficult situation regarding Pogba.

United are believed to be keen on bringing the France international back to Manchester this summer, as new manager Louis van Gaal seeks major improvements in the midfield department in his first season in charge of the Red Devils.

Real are also keen on the player, however, and will likely provide stern competition for him before the start of the new season.
