The La Liga side have seen star striker Diego Costa leave for Chelsea and David Villa secure an MLS switch, via a stint in the A-League, and as such certainly could do with additions to boost their attack.

Diego Simeone has already successfully acquired Mario Mandzukic but now wants Mexican Chicharito to boost his front-line and it’s a move that the Old Trafford bit-part player would surely be tempted by.

Hernandez has struggled to retain a foothold in the Man United starting eleven throughout his four season spell at the club but last term he hit a real low, making just six Premier League starts and there is no indication that life will improve under new manager Louis van Gaal.

Man United may well be ready to sell Hernandez in order to help boost their transfer funds though a lot could depend on just how much they will look to garner from the sale of the 26 year old.

Hernandez is a proven finisher with a very healthy strike-rate having netted 59 goals in 152 appearances for Man United, of which 69 were from the bench.
