Chelsea could be set to make a surprise swap deal offer in their attempt to sign Atletico Madrid centre-back Miranda, according to Spanish publication Marca.

The Blues may be willing to offer German winger Andre Schurrle to Atletico as they chase the Brazilian defender, with Diego Simeone willing to negotiate with the Stamford Bridge club as he too seeks further additions to his squad.

The two clubs have already done plenty of business this summer, with Chelsea signing both Diego Costa and Filipe Luis from Atletico, while Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has returned to his parent club after three years on loan in the Spanish capital.

Simeone has spent well to replace his departing stars, but now hopes to add Schurrle to his new-look attack, which includes the signings of Mario Mandzukic from Bayern Munich and Antoine Griezmann from Real Sociedad.

Schurrle may be surplus to requirements at Chelsea due to the great number of options in attack for Jose Mourinho’s side, despite the 23-year-old showing plenty of promise for the club in his single season there.

The former Bayer Leverkusen star also impressed greatly for Germany as they won the World Cup this summer, and Chelsea fans may be slightly surprised to see the wide-man move, if the two clubs can agree to a swap deal involving these two players.
