Manchester United have received a timely boost in the transfer market, on the back of securing the signing of defender Marcos Rojo from Sporting Lisbon, with Paris Saint Germain manager Laurent Blanc admitting that it will be “difficult” for the club to sign Angel di Maria, according to the Mail.

Both clubs have been linked with a big money move for di Maria this summer, with the Argentina international surprisingly appearing to be somewhat surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu after the signing of James Rodriguez from AS Monaco.

PSG manager Laurent Blanc was asked directly about the possibility of di Maria coming to the Parc des Princes during his pre-weekend press conference, and the Frenchman hinted at Financial Fair Play regulations before saying that it would be tough to sign the player:

“PSG can not do what he wants in terms of recruitment. This is a difficult issue, the president has confirmed to me.”

This could clear the path for United to complete what would be an eye-catching swoop for one of the world’s finest wingers – although they must convince di Maria that they are able to return to the Champions League after this season in the wilderness.

The signing of Rojo has brought some increased optimism to fans at Old Trafford, however, and the signing of di Maria would really boost this feel-good factor.
