Benfica Reject €25m Offer For Manchester United Target Enzo Perez

Valencia move for Argentine World Cup midfielder, but are rebuffed…

Valencia have given up on trying to sign Enzo Perez, the Benfica midfielder regularly linked with Manchester United throughout the course of the summer transfer window, reports Spanish publication MARCA.

The Spanish giants bid €25m for the Argentina international, but Benfica rejected the offer out of hand, meaning Valencia will now try and sign Fredy Guarin on loan instead.

The report proves that Perez is probably unavailable for any side to sign this summer, given the size of the offer turned down.

United had been considering Perez as an option to fix Louis van Gaal’s midfield dilemma. United have already signed Ander Herrera this summer, as well as Angel di Maria who can also play in the centre, but it’s widely thought that they still need enforcements in the position before the transfer window slams shut this Monday evening.

Instead of Perez, United could target Joao Moutinho, the Portuguese international currently plying his trade in France with Monaco. Any transfer would of course be gulfed in terms of significance by the Falcao deal, however – which is expected to be confirmed imminently.
