The England international has been out of action since January with a cruciate ligament injury. He sustained his injury in the Gunners FA Cup third round victory over Spurs.

Arsenal have struggled without Walcott, who can play in number of attacking positions while England also missed his experience and versatility at the World Cup.

“He’s doing well, but we’ll respect the time,” Gunners boss Arsene Wenger said about Walcott’s recovery. “We have plenty of players who can fill in that role and we will respect the delay.

“The timing with Theo is end of the month to join in again, after the break in full training.”

Despite Wenger’s wish to give Walcott time, the Frenchman will be boosted by the possibility of having the 25 year old back for the game against Spurs.

The Gunners have a tough start to October after they have face their North London rivals. First they play Galatasaray in what could be a crucial Champions League tie then they face rivals Chelsea in the Premier League.

Walcott’s presence at the Emirates would be a huge bonus to an Arsenal squad that is already missing Olivier Giroud to a long term injury.
