Ligue 1 giants rival United for £40m star.Paris Saint-Germain could be set to rival Manchester United for the signing of AS Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman with an exchange deal this January, according to the Daily Express.
The Ligue 1 giants are ready to offer Roma the chance to sign exciting French youngster Adrien Rabiot as part of the deal, with the Italian giants known to be admirers of the highly-rated 19-year-old.
This move could prove to be a major transfer blow for Arsenal and Chelsea as well as for United, with the London duo known to be keen on signing Rabiot too, after being linked with him for much of the summer transfer window.
Strootman is also a player believed to be high on United’s agenda after they missed out on a second central midfielder signing before the transfer deadline, with Louis van Gaal failing to land top targets such as Arturo Vidal of Juventus and Fredy Guarin of Inter Milan.
The Dutchman now hopes to sign his fellow countryman when the transfer window re-opens in the winter, but PSG will provide stern competition for his signature with their financial power and offer of a top class replacement coming in return for Strootman for Roma.
