Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is said to be keen on Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph and will look to convince the newly capped England man to leave Villa Park for a move to north London.

The White Hart Lane manager is keen to re-shuffle his midfield pack and the likes of Sandro, Moussa Dembele, Paulinho and Lewis Holtby are yet to start a Premier League match under Pochettino and the 24 year old Villa star is said to be a player who interests the Argentine.

Delph has started the current campaign well, earning him a first call-up to Roy Hodgson’s England set-up, and Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert would be loathed to lose the intelligent distributor.

Aston Villa signed Delph from Leeds United in August 2009 and after a stuttering start to his career in the Midlands it’s safe to say the Bradford born midfield schemer is beginning to deliver on his very obvious potential.

Given Aston Villa’s struggles in recent seasons, finishing the last three campaigns at the wrong end of the Premier League table, there is a chance Delph may feel his career progression could be better suited at a side in the upper reaches of the table.

Tottenham will be able to offer Delph a taste of European football, providing Spurs are still in Europa League action by January, and Pochettino will push chairman Daniel Levy to make a competitive offer for the Aston Villa man as well as putting together a salary well in excess of his current wage packet.

Aston Villa are keen to tie down Delph to a new, and improved, contract with the midfielder into the final year of his current deal.
