The Brazilian playmaker moved to Anfield in January 2013 and has successfully rejuvenated a career that was stagnating at Inter Milan.

The 22 year old has been a virtual ever present in Brendan Rodgers’ side and has as a result forced his way back into the national team picture under new coach Dunga.

Coutinho appears to be happy to commit his long term future to the Merseyside outfit:

“I’d be happy to analyse a new contract,”

“It is very important for me to play in the Champions League but staying does not rely only on that.

“I have heard a lot about the European nights at this club. I can only imagine the atmosphere will be fabulous, because it seems to me that the atmosphere at Anfield is always fabulous, even for ordinary games in the afternoon.”

“We are confident we can make it to the next stage but we know it will be tough. Not just against Real Madrid but Ludogorets and Basel too.

“We are looking forward to getting off to a good start and we know we will have the fans behind us.”
