Liverpool have been given a massive boost after receiving news that Daniel Sturridge could be fit for next week’s Merseyside derby against Everton, according to SkySports.

The Liverpool and England striker has returned to light training after suffering a thigh strain on international duty earlier in the month.

Sturridge will definitely be unavailable for this weekend’s clash against Sam Allardyce’s West Ham, but could return to face Everton the following week if he has no further set backs.

“Daniel is doing well and is out on the field doing some work,” said Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.

“He should hopefully be back [in full] training at some point next week and will have a chance for the derby.”

“We wouldn’t rush him back because of one game. Unless he’s fit enough to produce for us then I wouldn’t rush it,” he continued.

Daniel Sturridge managed a whopping 21 goals in 29 appearances last season, and while he has just one in three so far this season, he is more than likely going to be vital to any success Liverpool have this campaign.
