The 19 year old is into the final year of his current contract and his demand for a new £4m a year deal has been soundly turned down by the cash-rich Ligue 1 side, leaving the door open to a possible January exit.

The Parc des Princes side would presumably prefer to garner a fee for the French Under 21 international in January in preference to losing the player on a free transfer next summer and Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal is one of a number of Premier League managers keen on the exciting Frenchman.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea are known to be keen on Rabiot, as are Serie A side AS Roma, and PSG boss Laurent Blanc has all but confirmed his imminent exit, stating:

“I believe he will leave, but I can’t tell you where.

“Rabiot has received a good offer from PSG but apparently it doesn’t interest him. It’s a shame.”

Louis van Gaal could do with some fresh central midfield options with the likes of Tom Cleverley, Marouane Fellaini, Darren Fletcher, Anderson and Michael Carrick perhaps not players who are part of the Dutch manager’s long term plans.
