Old Trafford will be hosting a friendly between Portugal and Argentina, which will presumably see the former Red Devil return to his old stomping ground, reports the Telegraph.
Ronaldo has been heavily linked with a return to the Premier League club recently, although even the most optimistic fan probably wouldn’t have believed it would happen as soon as the winter transfer window.
Fans will have to settle for seeing their idol in an international friendly instead, with the match being billed as a clash of the world’s greatest players: Cristiano Ronaldo v Lionel Messi.
Although not confirmed yet, it seems only a matter of time before it’s finalised and the Madrid forward makes his return.
His only previous visit to Old Trafford since his then record £80m departure in 2009 was for a Champions League meeting between Los Blancos and United.
The Portuguese winger even scored as they knocked his former club out of the competition.
