The tough tackling Ivory Coast international has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal but now White Hart Lane boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen on the defensive midfielder, this despite Spurs possessing a fair few similar players.

Currently Pochettino can call upon the likes of Etienne Capoue, Paulinho, Nabil Bentaleb and Moussa Dembele, all of whom offer a strong steely option in the middle of the park though the Argentine manager is seemingly of the belief hat Magpies enforcer Tiote is a more suitable candidate for the role in his starting eleven.

Given Newcastle United’s position towards the foot of the Premier League table one would have to imagine the 28 year old former FC Twente man would be open to a move to either north London side.

Newcastle United Mike Ashley is not usually averse to cashing in on his side’s top talents and no doubt he would look to bank a far bigger sum than the £3.5m paid for the player back in 2010.
