Reds set the wheels in motion over signing former Barcelona stopper.
Liverpool have reportedly opened talks with the agent of Spanish international Victor Valdes, according to respected Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Reds have been linked with a move for the crocked star for months now, with speculation hotting up in recent weeks coinciding with the patchy form of their current number one Simon Mignolet.
And now Romano has claimed that talks between the two have finally begun.

Valdes is still thought to be a little while away from returning to full fitness, but would put pressure on Mignolet immediately should the Reds manage to convince him to make the move to Anfield.
Valdes left Barcelona over the summer by refusing to renew his contract with the club, citing the need for a new challenge as his main reason for moving on.
