Arsenal Transfers – 2014 World Cup Winner Desperate For January Move

Podolski has yet to start a game this season.

Lukas Podolski has confirmed earlier rumours that he will seek a move away from Arsenal in the January transfer window.

The 29-year-old, who has been with the Gunners since 2012, has never really established himself as a first team regular and the arrival of Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck has pushed him further down the pecking order.

“I have assessed my position in the team, and it has to change now,” Podolski is quoted by the Daily Mail.

“Let’s see what happens in the winter. The fact is that I’m not happy with it, that’s clear.”

Offers were made for the forward in January, but after Olivier Giroud broke his foot the North Londoners rejected all advances.

With Giroud close to a return and Welbeck now on board, a January transfer for Podolski is a definite possibility.

Podolski has retained his place in the Germany team despite not playing for Arsene Wenger’s men, winning his 120th cap against Republic of Ireland on Tuesday, and has always performed well for his national team.

However, the German has never been able to establish himself at a top club, also failing at Bayern Munich and early promise and occasional flashes of quality, ultimately he has been let down by a lack of consistency.
